Ecosystems and protected areas

Healthy ecosystems are the foundation for species survival and for human wellbeing. MES works to conserve forests, wetlands and mountain landscapes, and to see Macedonia's protected areas designated and effectively managed.

Through valorisation studies, management plans and cooperation with institutions and local people, the programme helps build a national network of protected areas and keeps the use of natural resources sustainable.
