Another way to support our work is to join our field activities as a volunteer. Not only will you get unique experiences in nature and a chance to learn from and connect with passionate experts and researchers — you will also directly contribute to the growth of citizen science in the country.
Volunteering is open to everyone, and signing up for the activities below is done with an active MES membership — become a member and join us in the field!
What is citizen science?
The active involvement of volunteers in scientific research is the very foundation of citizen science. It lets anyone take part in advancing our knowledge of any environmental topic, or of any plant or animal species.
Citizen science is part of how the Macedonian Ecological Society works because we know, on the one hand, that we cannot achieve everything on our own — and on the other, that these experiences are an extraordinary opportunity for the volunteers themselves to learn more, broaden their horizons and grow to appreciate nature and the living world even more.
Our activities
Our field activities include observing and counting various species (birds, mammals, amphibians and the like) and habitats, as well as public events and scientific gatherings.
